A working resource for your next decision
Family offices are not a single investor category. Some back funds, some invest directly and some hold operating businesses. A name in a directory does not tell you which route is relevant to your round or fundraise. This page brings our existing research datasets together and adds a qualification workflow.
There are separate resources for UK family offices investing in funds, US family offices and emerging managers, and European investment decision makers. Each preserves its own scope, source log, review dates and caveats. The datasets can overlap; their row counts should not be added together as unique organisations or people.
The accompanying Claude skill helps you filter a dataset against a specific mandate, recheck dated sources and prepare a shortlist with unresolved questions. The downloads are snapshots of public research. They are not a live feed of allocations, a promise that an organisation accepts unsolicited approaches or evidence that a named person can approve an investment alone.

How to use the pack
Step 1
Choose the dataset closest to your task. A fund manager looking for LP commitments and a founder raising direct capital should not start with the same screening assumptions.
Step 2
Filter by investment mode first, then geography, sector, stage and evidence date. Keep family-backed investment companies, foundations and conventional family offices labelled according to the dataset’s own caveats.
Step 3
Reopen the sources for the rows that survive. Check the current organisation and team pages, investment activity and public contact route. Preserve the historical observation and append a new review date rather than silently making the old row look current.
Step 4
Prepare a short qualification brief for each priority organisation: why it might fit, what the evidence actually says, what remains unknown and what to verify next. Keep personal authority separate from organisation-level activity.
What each skill does
Start with the skill that matches the immediate job. Every skill includes its own working templates, so you can use it independently without installing the whole collection.
Family office qualification
Use when: a family-office dataset needs screening for an actual fundraise
Output: A sourced allocator shortlist with investment-mode fit and dated caveats
Bring evidence, then ask a specific question
- The relevant CSV and its methodology/source log
- Your target investment mode, geography, strategy and round or fund terms
- A review date and the minimum evidence required before outreach
The quality of the result depends on the inputs. Keep confidential or personal information out unless it is needed and you have permission to use it. If you only have a short brief, start there and let missing evidence remain visible.
A first request to try
Use family-office-qualification on this dataset for our proposed fundraise. Separate LP allocators from direct startup investors, verify the strongest candidates against current public sources, and return a shortlist with evidence dates and unresolved mandate questions. Do not infer private contact details or investment intent.
After the first run, check the output against the underlying files. Correct misunderstood definitions and assumptions, then ask for a revision. Save the evidence ledger with the result so that someone else can inspect the reasoning later.

Sources and scope
Independent and unaffiliated. The methods, prompts and checklists on this page are built on publicly documented approaches. They are not created by, endorsed by, or affiliated with any product, platform or company whose name appears here, and Tau AI has no relationship with those companies beyond using their published guidance.
- Dataset counts describe rows within each separate resource. They are not a combined count of unique qualified investors.
- Role, activity and mandate evidence must be rechecked before outreach. Organisation-level investments do not establish an individual’s signing authority.
Source pages and installation guidance were reviewed for this release. Facts about firms, products and financing can change; each research run should preserve its own access dates and recheck the evidence needed for its decision.
